I have now read this book 2 times. It was every bit as good the second time as it was the first time. The story is about a deaf girl, Allie, who gets buried alive under a lot of rubble from her house being hit by a hurricane. She is rescued by an emergency disaster worker, Ricky, and his dog, Shadow, who is trained to find people trapped by a disaster. Allie has to spend some time in the hospital because of injuries from the hurricane. She must find a place to stay when she gets out of the hospital but doesn't really know many people I Miami since she just recently moved there. Ricky feels she should stay at his house since he has an extra bedroom and feels bad about her situation. Allie and Ricky are drawn to each other but Allie doesn't want a relationship with Ricky because of his dangerous job. You'll have to read the book to see how the story plays out. As always Sherryl Woods has written another great story that is hard to put down and tugs on your heart.

Good stories--two of my favorite authors. They interweave the characters and kep your interest throughout the book. Enjoyable reading.
I enjoyed the storyline very much. It was so good the way the flirting Dr. was portrayed at first. You really never thought he was the ring leader in selling humans for prostitution.
Both of these stories give us hope of a bright and healthy future.
These imply that all people are capable of working together to create a new and better nation.
These authors never let you down. Both books are wonderful. I enjoyed every page I turned and was sorry for them to end.
Sherryl Has Done It Again! A Great Way To Become Acquainted With Sherryl's Stories And Feed Your Need To Read! These Books Are Reasonably Priced And Full Of Stories To Touch Your Heart!
I definitely need to move on to reading other types of novels, because I'm finding myself bored with the repetition of story lines. This one did at least have a little variation on the usual reasons for tug-of-war between man and woman, but it still was pretty predictable. As romances go, it was well written and the characters pretty clearly painted. Although one feature of the female main character seemed to be handled unrealistically (if I tell you, it will give part of the story away). Light and quick read.
When Ricky rescues Allie from the wreckage of her destroyed home after a hurricane-spawned tornado, he surprises them both by suggesting she recover from her injuries staying in his home. She is sure she has no place she wants to stay, even though her boss at the clinic where she teaches American sign language would take her in.

There is an immediate attraction between them, but each feel their arrangement is temporary. They both actively fight their attraction. Living together makes that difficult. Allie is scared to consider any long term relationship because of the hazards inherent in his job as a rescue worker. Rocky can be called at any time to take his rescue dog anywhere in the world to help look for survivors in the unstable detritus of a catastrophe.
